Why Desire Seeks Resistance

Desire, in its most honest form, is not drawn to ease. It is drawn to structure. It moves instinctively towards that which does not yield too quickly, too completely, or too cheaply. There is a peculiar truth in this, one that reveals itself gradually through experience rather than instruction. We do not remember what was immediately available to us. We remember what asked something of us. We remember what required our attention to sharpen, our posture to straighten, and our presence to become more deliberate.
