On Responsibility Without Recognition
There is a form of responsibility that exists entirely outside the reach of acknowledgement, and it is far less glamorous than most people expect. It does not announce itself, it does not accumulate praise, and, rather inconveniently, it offers no immediate return on investment. It operates in private, often in moments so minor they would be dismissed if described aloud. And yet, those moments tend to be far more revealing than the ones performed under observation.
